The rooms are functional although quite old. We stayed in a room which had smelling toilets. Thank fully we were changed to another room. The lifts have limited options so sometimes you may have to wait. The reception staff were not friendly, after arriving past midnight, they made us wait for a long time to verify our booking. They system is generally slow.

I felt the breakfasts were a little lacking for the price being paid, and the price of the food on the menu for room service was quite high, but tasty.

Safe environment, friendly staff, comfortable bed and sufficient number of pillows. Breakfast selection overall was nice. Gym facilities were good. For runners there were treadmills and actually there was a safe area nearby (1km) to run outside in the Kololo Hill near the embassies. Also other cardio equipment was also provided in the hotel gym. In addition there were free weights and general gym equipment for comprehensive workout needs. Travel/transport services provided by the hotel travel desk were trustworthy and punctual.

The pool area and the pool was a bit dirty. The hotel restaurant menu and food could be better. I recommend that you have your dinner somewhere else since there are other restaurants in the area.

Location is perfect

When booking through booking.com they give you bad rooms but when booking directly from reception they give you best rooms. Its not fair

Breakfast was basic

Very good location, many good restaurants around and shoping malls. Pool is nice and well maintained. Hotel is clean and offers a lot for the price.

Staying there for business purposes i did not noticed anything that would i not like

Clean room, big swimming pool

Menu is quite poor, almost nothing for vegetarians. Swimming pool is only for swimming, not for fun. There's no way to enjoy cold beer and dive into the water after that.

Breakfast was plenty and lots to choose from. The music show was excellent . Great singers who thrilled the residents most of the evening on Thursday the 2nd August night. The facilities , Swimming pool, Gym and SPA are great.

The bathroom , shower and bathtub requires refurbishment . Better and more modern curtains would do. The taxi pick up from the Airport MUST be explained properly , that it is per person or / car ! The Hotel charges per person even in small taxis where people are squeezing . Hotel need to rethink this strategy. The hotel could be making money on ferrying people and end up infuriating a lot of customers. quite ridiculous !!! and out of practice for most establishment all over the world. Service at the bar could be improved .

Bed was large, internet was very good also liked the pool it was clean and big.The meals both breakfast and dinner, berberque were great with traditional dishes keep up The front office/ reception service was quick which is plus experienced no delays

1 The TV reception was not good on the 11th Floor and please include international channels eg CCN, AJE.. not only Ugandans channels 2.The Gym is not clean , not organized & some equipment not working 3 Too many people not really hotel guests on the Lobby area, which can be a risk

Transfer seems expensive when booked through them. Main restaurant is tired and food very average.

for family visit ( two bed apartment) , the facility was poorly prepared, where i was located was far from the garden , my views were walls ad parking lot ! my free breakfast was contested , my final bill was over inflated and had to go through item by item, so I get to pay 50% of what was stated in the hotel bill. for Kampala I have seen better option for equal or less money

The staff were great: friendly, responsive, happy to interact with a jetlagged toddler. They were happy and quick to move us to the main hotel when we saw the condition and location of the apartments (even if they charged us the same price for it). That's about all that is worth mentioning.

We originally booked an apartment to get over the Jetlag of 2 days international travel and just wanted somewhere nice to chill before heading back to normalcy in the north. The apartment was awful. Dirty, substandard, missing several stated facilities, far from the main hotel, without a lift, without a mosquito net, and very very old. Not worth half the cost. Don't bother for any reason. Just get a room in the tower, or go elsewhere, as we will next time. Other than that, the whole place is decidedly average: The breakfast is more of a quantity over quality situation; the Tv reception is poor and fails totally with any sign of rain; the Internet drops intermittently; and the shower/bath leaked profusely in both rooms I have stayed in (I have stayed there before also: in the tower on level 10... If you are going to stay here, make sure you stay high up. The rooms are much better and more modern). All in all, the hotel feels like it has seen better days and that none of the profit has been reinvested. A shame really. Oh, and just in case this comes across as the mornings of an ignorant muzungu, I live in Gulu in northern Uganda and worked in South Sudan. I have stayed in some pretty average accommodation in my time. The difference is that I did not pay USD180 per night for it.

It is my second time in Hotel Africana, it is good for travelers who have limitations in their per-night budgets. I like the location, the staff is somehow friendly however sometimes they get too compulsive which is not so friendly to tourists staying at the hotel. Being friendly is good but to force oneself on hotel guests conveys a bad image of the hotel, perhaps the staff being underpaid and they surely appreciate getting tipped.

I think that the rooms are old, the hotel needs to refurbish the amenities in order to raise the benchmark. The facilities are poorly maintained and the equipment used is not A-grade (for instance, the kettle, the hairdryer) even the fitness centre is old and needs an upgrade.

The hotel grounds were very well maintained.

Hotel staff left alot to be desired. Very dissapointed at the level of professionalism of a chosen few. Did not live up to the reputation whatsoever. Only stayed one night as a result.

The cooperation of staffs like Shakira and David. They have made my stay excellent out of the bad situation I have experianced on my arrival day. Many thanks to Ms Shakira and Mr David. You were very kind and humble to me.

Poor Management. I had booked Delux double bed online using booking.com. I went there all the way from UK and when I showed up, I was given twin beds instead of the one I have booked. I have tried to contact the duty supervisor Mr William and informed him of my situation. He said he was not able to do any thing for me since they had no delux bed at a time. When I inquire, I came to realise that he already sent me there while he was aware that it was not the room type I had already booked. That was a very disgusting thing I have ever seen in a big international hotel like that. I had to be in the room which was not of my preference for the first day. Shame on the management.

Definitely good value hotel, no need to pay double price for a comfortable stay! Staff is very professional, helpful and honest! They also have a good taxi service! I also enjoyed the dinner, I selected the ingredients and they cooked for me!

Breakfast is rich, but they may add more continental breakfast options like cheese and jam!

Comfortable room in the upgrade room although a colleague stayed in the older room and i did not think this was up to the expected standard.

Minor infestation in bathroom but no infestation would have been better! Some noise at night from surrounding venues.
